Retailer’s that are posting infomation on either PS3 Preorders or the Launch.  Most major electronics retailers still seem to be planning on having an online preorder.  In most cases, people are expecting any online preorders to be product bundles.  If you want the convenience of buying online, they’re going to upsell you.

DailyTech, October 23, 2006 — It was discovered by an AVS Forum poster that Sonys Blu-ray Disc Player BDP-S1 has been pushed back to a target availability of “On or about December 4, 2006,” marking the third delay for the product. This is small proof that Sony is indeed suspending shipments of blue diode lasers for Blu-ray movie players in favor of PlayStation 3 manufacturing story, despite the fact that BDP-S1 will retail for a more profitable $999.95. from www.hardwarezone.com

Sony may cut production numbers again due to shortages in parts for the Blue Ray DVD system incorporated into the unit, reports Bloomberg.   Sony appears to focusing all production on getting units to the US for the holiday season.  Everyone else can wait!

Sony to shell out 500,000 copies of the Will Ferrell hit “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” to entice shoppers to go for PS3 over lower priced competitors.

The PlayStation 3 itself will still be running gamers a steep $600 when it goes on sale Nov. 17. And so it was perhaps in hopes of taking some of the edge off the sticker shock that Sony executives spent Thursday afternoon emphasizing to a few hundred journalists and analysts that many aspects of PlayStations network service would come with no additional service charge.
