Following disappoint sales figures last week, www.walmart.com announced that it will be arming itself with low prices as it seeks to become the retailer of choice for the upcoming holiday season. In addition to the price cuts on a number of toys made last month by www.walmart.com , the retail giant will cut prices on a wide range of electronics to help lure in shoppers.

This past Wednesday, www.walmart.com offered a Nintendo Wii bundle on its website. The bundle included the Wii Console (which includes one remote, one nunchuck, the Wii Sports Game Disk, a power cord, sensor bar and a standard AV composite cable) an additional controller, a nunchuk controller, a Nintendo Points Card, and a choice of four games. The bundle, which should for $553 sold out before the days end.

To keep shoppers spending, retailers this season will offer more free shipping, lower prices, remodeled store layouts and customized one-of-a-kind gifts. They’ll leverage technology and employee training to maximize shoppers’ experiences and expenditures. Oh yeah, and why wait until 5 AM the day after Thanksgiving to open the stores up….when you can do it at 12:00 AM!

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (www.walmart.com) said on Monday it would promote key electronics such as flat-panel televisions, MP3 players, video gaming consoles and laptop computers as part of an aggressive holiday campaign.

Less than one week after the world’s biggest retailer declared an early start to the holiday shopping season by cutting prices on more than 100 popular toys and games, Wal-Mart said it intends to be the lowest-priced retailer in gift categories such as electronics and jewelry as well.

Wal-Mart Stores (WMT) on Wednesday declared an early start to the holiday shopping season, cutting prices on more than 100 toys and games, effective immediately.

The world’s biggest retailer said the markdowns were “just the start of thousands of price cuts on key gift, entertaining and holiday items,” setting the stage for a fiercely competitive finish to the year.

Wal-Mart said the price cuts include the Hot Wheels Radar Gun, made by Mattel (MAT), for $20, down from $29.74, and board games such as Hasbro’s (HAS) Monopoly Here & Now for $15, down from $28.96.
